Green?

There are many aspects that combine to make high performance artisan concrete one of the greenest products available for countertops and other precast architectural element’s.  One is of course the fact that it is not cut out of a mountain side in Brazil or else ware and shipped half way around the world.  And it has no resins to bind the constituents together.  It does have sand and aggregate that is sourced locally, these make up from 70 to 80 % of the material. Also as an option we can use recycled glass for all or part of the sand and aggregate. Most of the rest of the material is the cementitious material, Portland cement being the most common and the least green portion of the concrete. For this reason we replace a signifigant portion of the Portland with other supplemental cementitious materials. These SCM’s are industrial wastes or recycled materials and make the concrete stronger and denser.  So depending on the look and character that we are trying to achieve, our concrete can be as much as 85% recycled or post industrial waste.  And it’s made locally. We at Buckets of Stone are happy to be able to contribute to the greening of our community.
